She can even make Ugly beautiful.

OK. I have to admit that I do the dumbest things as a mom. I hope I am not the only one here who hits her forehead daily and says "Dumb! That was really dumb!" Like when you give your child crayons to play with so you can finish that phone call, or when you leave them unattended with play dough, or when you give them ice cream cones in their car seats just to avoid getting in an accident during rush hour.

Well, this was worse.

I missed my daughters dance class pictures. I got her all excited about dressing up in her new costume, wearing makeup and practicing how to not "fake smile" for the camera. 20 minutes before class, I got a phone call from a mom. "Oh we missed Addie on Saturday for picture day." My heart SANK!!! How could I be so dumb!!! Addie started to get worried at my tone, so I quickly hung up and told her that we were ready for her glamour portraits in the living room. I played photographer, and she was SO proud. I was SO glad that she is only 3 and didn't know what to expect, and that she can still believe that her mother is the REAL photographer.

To be honest, I was dreading picture day with her in this bright orange, black and copper fruffy dress. I mean, BLAH!! Who comes up with these costumes?!?(This is for a Lion King dance...so I guess orange=lion.) But even still, she is gorgeous. These pictures will always remind me of my absent minded brain. But even more, they will remind me that Perfection isn't always lost when dressed up in a bunch of ugly. She makes this dress look stunning. Only she. Only Addie. Unaffected by the yucky. And seemingly unaffected by her mother's dumb mistakes. Oh she is perfect. Thanks Addie.
(and for my utter distaste for those 80's glamour shots, I just had to throw this in:)

Oh my goodness! She's beautiful! I'm sure your pictures came out much better than anything they would have done on Saturday!

The first one reminds me of a painting that would be in a castle above a very old & large fireplace...I don't know ....just does...

Lovely little girl!

Oh Sarah! They turned out beautifully--even the glamor shot! It reminded me of my birthday cake fiasco with Samuel. Thank heaven's for the innocence of children.

My two daughters recital pictures are coming up. And, I have really been thinking, I am not going to buy these pictures, instead, do my own.
Why Not, I have been saying to myself, why should I pay for what I can do myself ?
Thanks, I am going to take my own :),
amy
p.s. i no the photographer, he will not go under without my order.

Oh my......what a gorgeous girlie and what a wonderful photographer you are!
What better fit, than to have them taken by her mommy in HER house, in her own familiar surroundings. So funny, but yesterday my girlie brought home her school "spring" photos and i had to try so hard to not show my utter distaste for them, in front of her....her smile and hair were gorgeous of course, but that horrid dirty hillside faux hillside of a background, with fake bricks she was leaning on....i mean, how cheesy can you get?! I can take WAY better pics myself, thanks! :) You did fantastic...and the background lighting is tops!!!

Well, I just had to comment on this. For "messing up" and missing picture day you sure did a fabulous job on her dance portraits yourself. She looks really, really beautiful! I think she's pretty lucky to have a mom like you! :-)

What an adorable little girl...she looks like a "natural" in those photos. I'm positive those pictures are 110% better than any they could've taken at Dance Class and a great memory to hold onto.

Hi Sarah

What beautiful photos, that only you, her Mummy, could capture.

Addie is just gorgeous.

That color actually looks really good on her! I don't if she's tan or if it's the lighting but it just suits her. I thought she was in a production of cats at first. lol. Your photography is much better than the studios in front of cheesy backgrounds, and other kids, etc. No worries.
